Ciao Bloggisti,
Earlier I composed about the via Monserrato project. one of the other apartments we worked on was found two blocks away on via Banchi Vecchi. It was a new apartment for our client.
The apartment was empty so we didn’t have the exact same logistical problems however two bathrooms, as well as the kitchen area had to be renovated. any type of time you begin opening walls you will have some surprises, particularly in a building that’s over three hundred years old.
The short from the client specified that the unique original flooring as well as the red tiles in the kitchen area might not be replaced. The floors weren’t in excellent shape however I like to believe of them as adding character. The client wished to enhance the layout, add a wardrobe in the bedroom, lighten up the extremely dark kitchen, as well as make the second bathroom more functional.
The bulk of the budget plan went to the renovation. a few of the furniture came from the other apartments. We bought a mix of high-end hardware/fixtures together with budget plan friendly pieces.
The minute the client specified that they had to modification the layout, we called an architect. Fortunately, Domenico Minchilli as well as his studio handled the project. Square footage smart it was a great deal smaller than their usual jobs however it was complicated. We had worked together before which made the renovation process, never easy, smoother.
BEFORE – The Kitchen
True, this is not a main home however I don’t believe any type of guest would want to spend a great deal of time in here. It was impossible to get a decent shot of this dark, cramped space.
The hallway before. The kitchen area is behind the wall on the right.
There were structural problems that had to be addressed (electrical, ventilation) so a upgrade/renovation had to happen.
Originally, we discussed opening just one of the walls. studio Minchilli suggested eliminating all them so you might see the entire arch as you walked into the apartment.
AFTER
What a difference. It’s light as well as there’s lots of area to move around. The cupboards are from IKEA however the counter top is quartz from stone Italiana. We decided to spend more for a higher high quality counter top provided the open plan design. It elevates the entire space, making the IKEA cupboards look more expensive.
My stress and anxiety level was not great the morning of this installation. A heavy slab, cut to order. three guy had to bring it.
The light fixture is custom. Il Paralume.
We likewise installed LED lights on the right.
BEFORE – Master Bathroom
There were dated, low-cost white tiles on the floor.
AFTER
The tub was replaced with a shower.
We decided to go with a combination bidet as well as toilet, which is excellent for little spaces. The client desired a unique sink. We ordered these (which were rather heavy, our bad contractor) as well as asked our blacksmith to develop the bases.
Notice, we didn’t put tiles on the walls. similar to the Tuscany Project, we desired the bathrooms to feel more like a space as well as less clinical. For a hectic household bathroom this choice might be impractical however I truly like exactly how these spaces feel without tiled walls.
The style of the new tiles mimics the original tiled floors in the rest of the apartment. While these colors look excellent together, installing three colors is a different story. Complicated.
The tiles, sink, as well as all hardware were bought at LOZZI.
The sconces are custom. Il Paralume.
Paint is a custom color from Crown.
In the bedroom we added a pocket door, a built-in closet, as well as the lampshades are custom from Il Paralume.
Our carpenter likewise produced a desk in the corner.
BEFORE – second bathroom.
Extremely tight space, dated tiles. The design was terrible as well as the space extremely dark.
AFTER
We totally altered the layout. We moved the entrance which enabled us to add area for a appropriate shower.
The door is custom made by our carpenter. Door fixtures are from Handles.
Here’s a much better shot of the sink with the custom iron base. just like the other bathroom, we bought a combination bidet as well as toilet.
BEFORE – Living Room
AFTER – Living Room
The amazing artwork is from Due Alberi. They’re based in Rome however ship internationally.
Our carpenter added new closets.
The dining table is from MADE as well as the chairs belong to the client.
The side table came from the via Monserrato apartment. We discovered the lamp at Leroy Merlin (the French version of house Depot).
The client discovered the credenza online. The lamps were a excellent discover at Leroy Merlin. We were so tired as well as hungry. My client was worried about my mental health and wellness as we had just spent hours at the IKEA next door. I perked up when I saw the lamps on a bottom shelf. I was so excited. It was like satisfying Idris Elba.
Overall, the apartment feels lighter in spite of the lack of light (the windows are tiny). The renovated kitchen area as well as bathrooms compliment the style as well as design of the apartment. We updated them however without losing the charm.
We kept the combination extremely simple, creamy whites, grey, black, with a touch of red. The ceiling seems higher as well as apartment looks/feels bigger.
